okay, let’s –– let’s talk about this. this is not based on me disliking hollywood roleplays. i dislike a lot of types of roleplays, but i don’t ‘ kick up a major fuss ’ over them. because frankly, i couldn’t care less. i don’t like hollywood, glee, supernatural, high school, royal, harry potter, college, roadtrip, etcetera etcetera. roleplays, but how often do you see me talking about them? here’s the thing, you can make a hollywood roleplay – that’s cool! go ahead, make one. but don’t use people’s personal information as if they’ve granted you the access to it. because they haven’t. that’s why i dislike when people use instagram famous people, because they’re NOT public figures with professional resources for you to use. 

let’s have a neat scenario, shall we? i’m currently playing chelsea clark, she was on degrassi. i have a friend who goes to school with her, and initially: she was a little uncomfy with me using her. which was completely understandable. it’s fine now, though. i have another friend who used to be friends with odeya rush’s brothers, they are also uncomfortable with her being used – because they knew her. now, they’ve both expressed discomfort over these two celebrities being played because they KNEW them. now, i want you to imagine them being closer than that, of course – friends celebrities are going to be uncomfortable with them being used, totally. but you know what would make them even more uncomfortable? people using THEM as a NPC for their ‘ muse. ’ how creepy isn’t that? i know a shit-ton of hollywood rpers that talk about their face claims’ non-famous friends & family like it’s nothing. it’s fucking scary. you are exploiting information that was NEVER yours to begin with. they didn’t talk about their family; their niece that you’re sharing pictures of, their friends that you are making up stories about, their relationships that you are disrespecting – none of that, in interviews which they are paid for. no, you find that shit on their personal instagrams/facebooks/twitters. 

and you use it like it’s nothing! their family, their personal lives, their everything that isn’t publicised in a professional setting: that’s NOT for your consumption. when they play a role, they agree for their face to be shared/used/publicised – and those resources, go nuts on them. use them in threads because that’s not THEM, they are playing a role that they got PAID for; that they signed a contract for. y’all REALLY gotta stop thinking of celebrities like you fucking own them. they don’t owe sharing ANY information with you, they don’t owe you pictures/autographs or even a god damn tweet back. and you don’t own their lives? they’re not YOURS. roleplaying is FICTIONAL; so stop using information that is personal & private. just… grow up. it isn’t 2012 anymore. pretending to be ariana grande on the world wide web isn’t dope shit.
